I was absolutely delighted to hear that Broadford Primary School in Harold Hill has won the Primary School of the Year and Overall School of the Year awards at the annual Times Educational Supplement's (Tes) School Awards contest on Friday night.
Now in its ninth year, the Tes Schools Awards celebrate the extraordinary commitment, quality and innovation shown by schools, teachers and support staff across the UK. The ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane and was attended by Education Secretary, Justine Greening.
The awards are a stunning achievement and fantastic accolade for Broadford and our whole borough, and stand as testament to the hard work and innovative approach of the school's dynamic and inspirational staff.
Broadford was recognised for going beyond traditional expectations of education, providing every pupil with opportunities to visit museums, galleries and sporting events and offering weekly Friday afternoon sessions in which pupils spend an hour learning a new skill, from knitting to a foreign language.
I shall be writing to the team to offer my congratulations and to thank them for the way in which they are enriching the lives of so many children and families in our constituency.
