Civic Service highlights community's achievements

Today we celebrated the achievements of the community and the dedication of its public servants at the annual civic service in the beautiful Church of St Laurence, Upminster.

The service and accompanying parade along St Mary's Lane also honoured Mayor of Havering, Cllr Linda van den Hende, who brought together representatives from all parts of the borough to mark the occasion. We were joined by Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Revd Stephen Cottrell, who gave the sermon, as well as civic mayors from across London. 

Upminster Junior School's magnificent choir provided the music, while local cadets carried flags and managed the guests and arrangements. 

It was a wonderful event and a timely reminder of the importance of duty, service & integrity.
