Julia Lopez MP has secured for residents of Church Lane an opportunity to provide formal feedback to the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) regarding the proposed relocation of the M25 construction compound.
Earlier this year, National Highways held a further round of consultation regarding the LTC project to detail 'local refinements' to the project ahead of their application for formal development consent. Regrettably, the consultation did not prominently highlight the proposed relocation of the M25 construction compound into a location closer to Church Lane in North Ockendon or formally seek views on this particular change.
In July, Julia Lopez MP canvassed residents in Church Lane to highlight this change and to seek their views for inclusion within formal representations to the Project Lead calling for further information on the potential impact of the compound's relocation and for formal mechanisms through which resident's views may be considered. You can view a copy of Julia's subsequent submission to National Highways here.
Julia was pleased to have secured from the project a formal consultation opportunity, exclusive to Church Lane residents, to comment on the compound's relocation alongside a commitment for a further site visit and meeting for residents. A copy of the response Julia received from the Project Lead, outlining the consultation opportunity alongside mitigations intended to minimise the impact of the compound's operation, can be viewed below.
Julia Lopez, Member of Parliament for Hornchurch & Upminster, said: 'I am grateful that the Lower Thames Crossing project has taken this opportunity to correct this omission from their most recent consultation and to ensure that constituents affected by potential changes to the project have a proper opportunity to comment on such changes. I shall continue to engage with the residents of Church Lane on this matter and look forward to the project team visiting the site to discuss this further, directly with residents.'
