Hornchurch & Upminster MP, Julia Lopez, has written to the Department for Transport to confirm her support for Transport for London's (TfL) bid for funding to refurbish the Gallows Corner flyover under the Major Roads Network programme.
Mrs Lopez secured TfL's ability to bid for up to £50 million via the Major Road Network programme in 2018 following direct lobbying of the then Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling MP. As TfL have now confirmed that they have submitted their online business case to the Department for Transport for consideration, the Hornchurch & Upminster MP has written to the Minister for Roads, Richard Holden MP, to reaffirm her continued support for vital refurbishment works to the flyover which is now over 50 years old. A copy of Julia's letter can be found at the bottom of this webpage.
While the Department for Transport consider the bid, TfL have confirmed that they will continue to progress design and planning work to ensure that, if funding is approved, the project can be delivered as quickly as possible with substantive works on site expected from early 2025.
