I have just received this update from TfL about the Ardleigh Green Bridge road works on the A127. In good news, the latest demolition works were successful, meaning that the second planned weekend closure of the road and rail will not need to go ahead at the end of June.
Full details below and pictures of the works attached.
Dear Julia,
Further to my letter of 13 May and further reminder on 24 May regarding weekend works to demolish the West side of Ardleigh Green Bridge, I am pleased to report the success of this stage of the project.
The demolition of the west side of the bridge was twice as large as that of the east side. Despite this, the work was completed ahead of the agreed rail and road closure times. This means that the second planned weekend closure of the road and rail referenced in our letter, at end of June, is no longer required and will not now go ahead.
Our project will instead move onto the next stage, which is to take delivery of the new bridge (also referenced in the letter) this Friday/Saturday nights between 21:00 and 08:00. This will involve a full closure of the A127 during the night time only in both directions from Gallows Corner to Ardleigh Green Road/Squirrels Heath Road.
For your reference, I attach a series of photographs showing the progress of the work that has taken place.
Please do let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind regards
