Julia Lopez, the MP for Hornchurch & Upminster, hosted her 10th Jobs, Skills and Apprenticeship Fair at Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, on Friday morning. The Fair was hosted in collaboration with the dedicated team at Romford JobCentre Plus and was the busiest ever with hundreds of attendees.
The fair coincided with National Apprenticeships Week (10 – 14 February) and featured around 20 employers and training providers, all offering jobs and training opportunities for Havering residents at different stages of their working lives.
Commenting after the fair Mrs Lopez said:
“The job market out there is getting tougher so this, our tenth fair, was an important chance to help residents find new opportunities. Our Jobs Fairs are always packed with inspirational people and are designed to start new conversations with job seekers who might have lost their confidence or are unsure of the next step.
“The Jobcentre team were brilliant, as ever, and do a great job putting the fair together with my Hornchurch & Upminster team, and we’re grateful to everyone who came or took a stall.
“I was over the moon to see so many people turning up, and look forward to getting the stats from the team about who has gone onto secure a new job or training.”
Julia and her team will look to host another fair later in the year.
