A couple of months ago we received a complaint from a constituent about the lack of departure information on Upminster Station's District line platforms. While there is a departure information screen at the bridge to all platforms, this is of little help to those who have arrived from another service, particularly those with poor mobility.
We raised the matter with C2C as operators of Upminster Station however they told us they do not have access to real-time running data from London Underground District Line to display the relevant information. We therefore took the matter up with TfL and are pleased to report the following response:
I have spoken to the project manager for the improvements to customer information systems and new signs at Upminster will be operational by October 2018. The signs will be on the District line platforms and also on the overbridges at either end of the station, replacing the old lightboxes.
The new signs on the overbridges will display the where the next train is departing from and what the train’s destination is. Something like:
Next Train departs from
Platform 3
Ealing Broadway
The new platform signs will display platform, destination of trains and which train will depart first. Something like:
1 Ealing Broadway
Next Train This Platform
1 Richmond
Next Train Platform 3
We will be able to further improve on the information that we can give to customers on these signs once we have upgraded the signalling systems in the area as part of the Four Lines Modernisation project. Once the area is completed in late 2019, we will be able to give the real-time information that you mention, like this:

2 Richmond
Plat 4

3 Wimbledon
Plat 5
