This morning the team and I had the pleasure of visiting Hacton Primary in Hornchurch and talking to some of the pupils there about their work on the First and Second World Wars. The students read remarkable poetry to me and showed me pictures of spitfires they had drawn. We talked about Hornchurch's illustrious history in defending London from the air as the base for RAF Hornchurch.
We were welcomed to Hacton by dynamic Headteacher, Mr Emes, and his deputy, Mrs Leslie. I had arranged to visit Hacton as part of my aim to understand the opportunities and challenges facing our local schools, and to offer help in connecting their leadership teams to useful people in Westminster and the constituency.
