This morning the team and I had the pleasure of visiting Sanders School, off Suttons Lane, and talking to the school's new head teacher, Mr Brooks. Mr Brooks joined the school in September after a deputy headship at a free school in Newham, and we discussed some of the challenges facing the school such as its physical infrastructure.
After a short tour, we met the school's President and Vice Presidents in the library and I took students' questions about life as an MP and the best and worst moments of my first year in politics.
I had arranged to visit Sanders as part of my aim to understand the opportunities and challenges facing our local schools, and to offer help in connecting their leadership teams to useful people in Westminster and the constituency.
