This afternoon we visited Forest Approach Academy, Harold Hill, to see staff and students and have a tour of the school. Formerly known as Dycorts School, Forest Approach provides education and support services to those children in our borough with special educational needs, and works closely with Ravensbourne and Corbets Tey schools to ensure families and students have access to a range of specialist facilities. They will soon also be building a sixth form to provide education and support for students up to the age of 19.
I had arranged to visit Forest Approach as part of my aim to understand the opportunities and challenges facing our local schools, and to offer help in connecting their leadership teams to useful people in Westminster and the constituency.
