To celebrate Parliament Week, I visited three schools in the constituency to answer pupils' questions about parliament, politics and my life as an MP.
Second stop was Scotts Primary, Hornchurch, where I met Head Teacher, Jan, and her dedicated teaching team. I toured the school, and saw its well-stocked library, magical reading room and sensory garden, and its beautiful displays that encourage learning.
Afterwards, I took questions from the School Council, which comprises representatives from Years 1 to 6. The children were extremely bright and inquisitive, asking questions about my daily routine as an MP, where I have travelled and what my favourite part of the job is.
It was my second time meeting Scotts pupils since I became an MP, following on from a session at Havering Town Hall with visitors from a school in China. I am always extremely impressed by how well-mannered and enthusiastic Scotts children have been towards me and I look forward to working with the school in the years ahead.
