To celebrate Parliament Week, I visited three schools in the constituency to answer pupils' questions about parliament, politics and my life as an MP.
First stop was Abbs Cross Academy, where I answered questions from a packed room about everything from North Korea to Brexit and the issues facing young people. The students were absolutely fantastic - engaged, engaging and inquisitive - and I was extremely impressed by their knowledge of politics and the political process.
I was able to speak separately to Head Teacher, Nicola Jethwa, about the progress the school has made since coming out of special measures, when it was taken on by the Loxford School of Science and Technology in 2016. The school has come on in leaps and bounds, and the ease and confidence with which children engaged with me was testament to the efforts of staff in shaping Abbs Cross Academy students to become assured, well-rounded and confident young people.
