Hall Mead recently chose its new cohort of school prefects, and I was glad to meet the team of exceptional pupils on a visit to the school this morning. I had arranged to visit Hall Mead as part of my aim to understand the opportunities and challenges facing our local schools, and to offer help in connecting their leadership teams to useful people in Westminster and the constituency.
I spoke to the prefect team about their interests, hopes and aspirations, and what they enjoy about the school community. We also discussed whether they feel pressured by social media and which sixth forms and jobs they hope to go onto once they have finished at Hall Mead.
Afterwards I spoke to Hall Mead's dynamic head teacher, Mr London, about school reforms, special needs education and how schools in the borough can work together to improve standards, particularly at secondary level.
