I organised a police meeting in Upminster's baptist church last year to respond to residents' concerns about community safety and encourage better dialogue between police and residents. I have since continued to respond to concerns over policing in correspondence and individual meetings with ward teams, residents and the borough commander.
A constituent telephoned our office a couple of weeks ago to request that I hold a further meeting with police but since operational policing comes within the remit of the Mayor of London, I suggested to our London Assembly Member, Keith Prince, that it might be better if he organised and led the next meeting so that he can then take whatever concerns are raised to the Mayor and continue to make the case for improved resourcing of outer London boroughs.
I would therefore like to share with you the invitation below from Keith. I will also be attending the meeting along with a senior representative from the borough police.
Meeting information
Location – St. Laurence Church Hall, Corbets Tey Road, Upminster
Date – Friday 17 May
Time – 7pm, doors open at 6.45pm
Those residents who cannot attend may wish to get involved with ward panel meetings and other police engagement opportunities. In Upminster, information on these events can be found through the following channels:

Residents may also be interested to know that I met our new Borough Commander, Stephen Clayman, at Romford Police Station last Friday and discussed residents' priorities including safety in the after-school period, street crime, serious violence and improved engagement between community groups, council and police to prevent problems before they take root.
