Julia Lopez MP has written to the new Metropolitan Police Commissioner to highlight her concerns that the future ownership of Hornchurch Police Station remains unclear, despite 2018 agreements between the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and Havering Council for Havering to purchase the station and lease it back to MOPAC.
Unfortunately, little progress has been made in the implementation of the above arrangements and the site's future remains in limbo. Julia therefore continues to lobby all stakeholders in this process for clarity and has argued that recent uplifts in officer numbers, including the recruitment of 350 additional officers to the East BCU which serves Havering, undermine the original basis on which the decision to dispose of the site was made. Julia has therefore written to Sir Mark Rowley QPM, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, to request that he review this decision and provide a meeting to discuss this further.
