Last week, Julia Lopez MP’s office hosted a Jobs, Apprenticeships and Skills Fair in partnership with the Romford Job Centre Plus (JCP) at MyPlace in Harold Hill. So far, we are very pleased to learn that 5 job offers were made on the day with a further 15 interviews arranged to take place following the fair at MyPlace. Having received feedback from half of the employers and training providers, 159 people had also been encouraged to apply for vacant roles and were offered bespoke assistance from employers to do so.
These statistics will be updated when we receive further feedback from the JCP. Their dynamic team have confirmed that 307 residents from the local area attended the event including 15 school children. We believe this fair has been the busiest one yet – with attendees able to explore numerous opportunities from a variety of industries covering education, property, transportation, armed forces and more.
This list is only set to grow with the JCP collating further feedback from employers who attended the event. These fairs can make a difference to local residents’ lives – whether through secured employment or training opportunities – and they are testament to the dedication and hard work of the team in Romford’s JCP in finding residents fantastic livelihoods.
Commenting, Mrs Lopez said ‘I am so pleased to learn of the impact our most recent Jobs Fair has had, with seven attendees receiving job offers on the very same day! This is the fourth in-person event I have hosted with our dedicated local team Job Centre team and the first time that we brought the event to Harold Hill. Initial outcomes like these prove how worthwhile these events are and I hope to receive further positive updates as attendees progress through interviews and applications started at the event.’
