Julia Lopez MP has written to constituents with the below update in connection to Brett Aggregate's proposals for Rainham Lodge Farm.

 
I wanted to write to you with an update about the planned quarry at Rainham Lodge Farm as my team made a site visit on residents' behalf this week.
 
As you know, I wrote to Brett Aggregate in December to ask for an update on their proposals for Lodge Farm. They told me that they are still awaiting formal feedback from Havering Council’s Strategic Planning Committee, along with detailed feedback from the Council’s Highways department to their proposed alternative vehicle routing arrangements. Until this feedback is provided, Brett are not able to make much more progress on their planning application. Brett also confirmed that their application will include more details about phasing, landscaping, and restoration of the area of Lodge Farm closest to properties. 
 
My office attended an on-site meeting with Brett on 23 January at their invitation and we are pleased to say that should the application be granted, Brett have agreed not to quarry an area of 100 by 300 metres closest to those properties on the corner of Hacton Lane. This follows our sustained representations highlighting the impact of the quarry on those properties closest to it and seeking further measures to compensate or mitigate against this. While of course we will continue to share residents' fierce opposition to and concern about the overall plan, we do welcome this modification that will lessen the disturbance to those nearby in the worst case scenario of the Council granting planning permission.
 
Six widening works are also being proposed by Brett to the road, given the increase in HGV traffic which would take place. I have received confirmation too there would be visibility improvement works undertaken along Launders Lane and the junction of Launders Lane/Upminster Road North/Berwick Pond Road/Warwick Road.
 
Finally, Brett updated that they would look to improve the floodplain to the western side of Lodge Farm.
 
While I hope that these comments are helpful to you, I would reassure you again that we will continue robustly to represent your concerns to Brett and to the Council once any plans are submitted. Once that stage is reached, it will be for Havering Council to approve or refuse. I therefore encourage you to continue sharing your concerns with your local ward councillors too.
