Julia Lopez, the newly re-elected Member of Parliament for Hornchurch and Upminster, has written to the Chief Executive of C2C seeking urgent repairs to the lifts at Upminster Station. The Member of Parliament has asked that the repairs be sorted as a matter of urgency and has asked when residents can expect the lifts to be working again.
Lifts at Upminster Station, specifically lifts at platform 1 and platform 4/5, are currently out of order with no clear indication on when repair works will be carried out. The lack of working lifts at the station means a number of the platforms are not accessible for those with mobility issues.
Ensuring that Upminster Station is fully accessible is one of Mrs Lopez’s key campaigns. Recently, she helped to secure money from the Access for All programme to get a lift or ramp at platform 6, finally making the whole station step-free.
Commenting on the lift breakdowns Julia said:
“I would like to thank residents for writing to me about the broken lifts at Upminster Station. I’ve written to the Chief Executive of C2C highlighting the importance of getting the lifts repaired urgently for local people.”
“Making sure that our public transport is accessible for all of our residents is incredibly important, that’s why I’ve been campaigning for accessibility improvements to platform 6. Part of making sure we have good transport options throughout the constituency means keeping our current access options well maintained.”
