Last Friday, Julia Lopez MP hosted her latest Older People’s Fair at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, the largest the MP has held to date.
The fair, which ran from 9.30am – 12.30pm, was hosted by Mrs Lopez and her Parliamentary team in collaboration with Queen’s Theatre and was put on completely free of charge to residents.
The fair brought together 23 different organisations offering support, advice and information on a range of topics for older residents, as well as those supporting or caring for a loved one.
In attendance were various care providers; local emergency services teams including the police, fire service and NHS; companion and social groups; as well as legal services firms offering advice on wills and estate planning.
Commenting after the fair Mrs Lopez said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to see how well our Older People’s Fair has gone today, it’s been a wonderful event to host. We’ve had a great mix of organisations here today who can offer different support and advice for our older residents.
“Havering has one of the oldest populations in London so ensuring that local people have the right support in place is an important part of my job as an MP.
“I’d like to thank Queen’s Theatre for helping to host this event, as well as all those who gave up their time to host a stall. I hope that those who came found the fair useful!”
The Older People’s Fair follows Julia’s earlier Jobs Fair hosted in September which saw over 200 attendees and a number of local people securing jobs interviews and places on training schemes.
