Julia Lopez, the Member of Parliament for Hornchurch & Upminster, has announced she will be hosting her latest jobs, skills and apprenticeships fair during the morning of Friday 14 February at Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch.
The fairs have become a regular fixture in the constituency’s calendar and are hosted by Mrs Lopez in collaboration with the team at Romford Job Centre Plus.
September’s fair was attended by 241 local people, 10% of whom secured interviews or places on training courses off the back of the event.
Several employers and training providers have already confirmed for the fair, covering a range of sectors including health and social care, the motor industry, emergency services and public transport.
Throughout the course of the month more businesses and training organisations will be confirmed and a full list of those attending will be posted on Mrs Lopez’s website closer to the time.
Julia said:
“I’m excited to host next month’s jobs, skills and apprenticeships fair with the brilliant team at Romford Job Centre. The fairs are an excellent chance for local residents to find their next opportunity, get back into work or change career direction and try something new.
“Recent fairs have led to dozens of residents securing interviews and places on training schemes so I’m really looking forward to what comes out of next month’s fair!
“Since the Chancellor’s Budget back in October where she hiked National Insurance Contributions for businesses, the labour market has tightened up a lot. It means the jobs fair we’re hosting next month is more important than ever for local people who are on the job hunt.”
Next month’s fair will coincide with National Apprenticeship Week which will aim to shine a spotlight on the value of apprenticeships to the UK labour market and as an alternative education and career provision.
