Health Minister, Andrew Stephenson MP, has written to Julia Lopez MP to provide an update on the impact of the Government's record investment in the NHS.
A full copy of the Minister's letter can be accessed below however highlights include:
- £3.95bn for the North East London Integrated Care Board, responsible for commissioning health services in Havering and across the region
- There are 54 more full-time equivalent doctors at BHRUT and an additional 29 patient care staff working in general practices in Hornchurch & Upminster
- 1.9 million more GP appointments across North East London in the 12 months to December 2023 compared to the 12 months to December 2019
- King George's Surgical Hub helping to reduce elective surgery waiting lists
Alongside the above, the Minister also noted that the Government will soon deliver the St. George's Health an Well-being Hub in Hornchurch, due to open later this year. Once operational, the site will provide a shared base for primary care, community and mental health services, acute outpatient care, renal dialysis, diagnostics services for cancer, a new frailty hub, social care and local voluntary and community groups.
Primary care provision within the hub will support 5,000 extra patients, while the frailty hub is expected to prevent 3,000 hospital admissions each year. Last summer it was announced that the site would further benefit from the installation of a Community Diagnostics Hub, providing up to 38,166 checks, tests and scans a year.
