Julia Lopez Sworn in as Member of Parliament for Hornchurch and Upminster

On the 9th of July 2024, Julia Lopez was sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Hornchurch and Upminster following her third re-election as the MP for the constituency.

Following her appointment to the shadow cabinet as the Shadow Secretary of State for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, she was amongst the first Members of Parliament to be sworn in following the General Election on the 4th of July.

This marks the third time which Julia has sworn the oath after the people of Hornchurch and Upminster returned her as their Member of Parliament. All Members of Parliament either swear an oath of allegiance or a solemn affirmation to serve the Crown.
